Conference 2012
January 28, 2012
Currently in its early planning stages, Conference 2012 will be held on the 10th, 11th and 12th August. This year we have partnered with the National Year of Reading with our theme being “love2read”.
We will update this space soon.
Conference 2011 was a resounding success with our reflection sheets giving us lots of positive feedback for a job well done.
At this conference Maggie Dent happily took up the position of Patron of our Association. She was also one of our terrific presenters and a great plenary speaker.
This year we held sessions on literacy, the importance of play, assistive technology, children’s health and wellbeing, motor development, bullying, early learning framework, chemistry, English as a second language, behaviour management, indigenous perspectives, maths, certification and global citizenship along with fun sessions such as zumba and tai chi.
Judging by comments made both during and after the conference it was very much enjoyed and found worthwhile by all who attended.
WAATA holds an annual weekend conference in August at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. The conferences are a great networking opportunity and many friendships have been established over the years.
We endeavour to cover as many subject areas as possible with 4 session times each 90 minutes in duration. Each session has 4 breakouts. We also have a conference dinner for all delegates on the Saturday night and a “Sip ‘n’ Chat” on the Friday evening which all financial members may attend. The conference is always finished off with an interesting plenary speaker.
Our team of volunteers work tirelessly to present a diverse selection of topics and presenters to make sure that all teacher assistants attending have a fantastic opportunity to further their professional development.
